This painting presents us with a wide and serene landscape dominated by a large body of water that extends horizontally across the composition. From the foreground, a low, wild strip of vegetation introduces the viewer to the scene, with ochre, green and golden tones suggesting a natural environment in transition. The water, calm and slightly rippled, acts as the central axis, reflecting the sky and the shores with a softness that reinforces the sense of calm.
On the left side, a slope covered with fields and tree-covered areas descends gently toward the lake or river. Its warm tones contrast with the cooler grays and greens of the water, creating a delicate chromatic balance. At mid-distance, small clustered buildings can be distinguished, hinting at the presence of a town settled along the shore. These structures, integrated into the landscape, contribute a human dimension without breaking the natural harmony.
Toward the center of the scene, a long structure crosses the water, possibly a bridge or walkway, connecting both shores.
