Yvaral (Jean-Pierre Vasarely) Rayonette Orange is a hand-signed orange screen print, numbered 139/190 in a limited edition of 190, dating from 1981, in excellent condition, 48 cm by 36 cm, from France, sold with a frame by the owner or reseller.
Description from the seller
Yvaral – Rayonette Orange | No. 139/190 | Black frame | Perfect condition
With Rayonette Orange, Yvaral (Jean-Pierre Vasarely, 1934–2002) demonstrates precisely what he is collected worldwide for: a tight, mathematical visual language that comes to life before your eyes. The warm orange tones, built up in a rhythmic geometric system, create optical vibration and depth that change as your gaze or stance shifts—classic Op Art with maximum wall power.
This work was also produced in blue and purple. I offer those as well, in the same frame. Check my other listings.
The work
Rayonette Orange is an original color screen print, signed and numbered, issued in a limited edition of 190 copies. This piece is number 139/190. The print is in perfect condition and is framed in a black frame, which makes the contrast and the optical energy of the composition stand out even more.
The year is not unambiguously fixed. This work was released in 1974 and 1981.
Yvaral
Yvaral was more than “the son of” Victor Vasarely: he developed his own analytic art practice in which perception research was central. In 1960 he was co-founder of the Paris-based Groupe de Recherche d’Art Visuel (GRAV), an influential movement that approached art as research into optical effects, movement and the active role of the viewer.
From the 1970s, Yvaral worked increasingly explicitly with rules, series and calculated variations. In 1975 he even introduced the term “Numerical Art” for art built on numerical/algorithmic principles—a key to understanding the methodology behind works like Rayonnette Orange.
Given the fragility of the object, free collection preferred (Amsterdam).
