About the artist:
Yamila Velázquez (Las Tunas, Cuba, 1993) is a contemporary artist who uses digital intelligence tools, currently living and working in Alicante, Spain. Owner and partner of a company dedicated to the sale, representation and development of artists and artworks, Velázquez combines her business vision with a deep artistic sensibility.
This young Cuban talent has established herself in the field of digital art, using contemporary media to explore themes related to nature, landscape and the intimate relationship between woman and her surroundings. Her works address with subtlety and visual strength topics such as beauty, love, sensuality and feminine delicacy, always framed in enveloping, romantic and refined atmospheres.

This work presents a monumental and sacralized vision of Bulbasaur, one of the pillars of modern visual culture. The piece uses the visual language of Kintsugi—the Japanese art of repairing cracks with precious metals—not only as an aesthetic finish but as a narrative of evolution and maturity. The body of Bulbasaur is traversed by an intricate network of golden filigrees that evoke the gold joints of the Kintsugi technique. Rather than presenting itself as a simple organic being, it is shown as an ancestral entity whose history and battles are engraved and “repaired” in its skin, giving it a value higher than the original perfection. The presence of the human figure (a trainer) facing this mythical-proportioned Bulbasaur emphasizes a relationship of mutual respect. The work suggests that the bond between them has strengthened over the years, just as gold strengthens cracked ceramic. In Kintsugi philosophy, the repaired object is stronger than the original. Here, Bulbasaur ceases to be a fictional character and becomes a totem of resilience, where each line of gold represents a step in its growth and a overcoming of fragility.
