MEDSAN's 40 × 40 cm giclée on canvas, hand-signed in the cartouche, titled The Rebel Geisha (ザ・レベル芸者) — La Geisha Rebelle, a 2026 limited edition (no. 1) from France, depicting a pop art reinterpretation of a geisha.
Description from the seller
MEDSAN - The Level Geisha – La Geisha Rebelle – Kurenai no Rider
With this square-format work, an unprecedented turn, Medsan delivers a boldly modern and transgressive vision of traditional Japan. This splash features a classic ukiyo-e figure — an elegant woman in traditional dress — reimagined with the nonchalant attitude of a bōsōzoku (the famed Japanese biker gangs).
The visual and temporal contrast is striking: dressed in a sumptuous kimono with complex floral and geometric motifs, our heroine wears dark sunglasses and smokes a cigarette with nonchalance. She is perched on a mini-custom motorcycle (reminiscent of iconic 1970s models), whose bodywork is delicately adorned with cherry blossoms (sakura).
The impact of the work also rests on a vivid vermilion red, solid background. This decorless backdrop, strongly inspired by modern Pop Art, highlights the finesse of the drapery and the subject’s audacity. The traditional vertical cartouche in the upper right corner, bearing the signature "Medosan", seals this perfect fusion between Edo-period classical art and contemporary urban culture.
A piece of crazy charisma, ideal for adding a colorful and quirky touch to a design-oriented interior.

About the Workshop:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Established as a genuine hub of artistic production, the workshop operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive quest, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is thought out, produced and tracked within the workshop, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
