Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Celluloid fountain pen, model Ideal Nº 7, manufactured in the United States in the first half of the 20th century, in good used condition with minor signs of age, in working order, diameter 1.2 cm and length 14.2 cm.
Description from the seller
A superbly preserved example for a Waterman No. 7 original from the late 1920s – early 1930s.
The Red Ripple ebonite finish maintains an excellent definition of the red/black grain, with homogeneous shine and well-preserved color depth. No severe discolorations, structural oxidations, or faded areas typical of prolonged exposure to intense light are evident. The material retains character and presence, something especially valued in this model.
The cap is structurally solid, with firm threads and proper closure. The engraving of the number “7” on the heel is visible and well defined. The distinctive color point at the end of the cap remains present.
The metal elements (clip, lever, and rings) show wear consistent with age: light superficial loss of plating at friction points and micro signs of use, without deformations or dents. The clip retains adequate tension and proper alignment.
The lever-fill works correctly. The internal mechanism has been checked and responds normally (a periodic inspection is always recommended for pieces of this age if they are to be used regularly).
The Waterman’s Ideal 14K nib preserves its geometry, with no cracks or visible repairs. The tines are well aligned and the iridium presents moderate and uniform wear, in line with historical use. The flow is steady and the writing behavior is correct for its type.
Overall, this is an authentic piece, structurally solid and in a general condition superior to the average found in this model, especially considering the sensitivity of the ripple ebonite to the passage of time.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
