Arnaldo Pomodoro (1926) - Senza titolo

Arnaldo Pomodoro was born in Montefeltro in 1926, and spent his childhood and training in Pesaro. Since 1954 he has lived and worked in Milan. His works from the Fifties are high-reliefs in which a singular, unprecedented “writing” in sculpture emerges, interpreted in various ways by the major critics. In the early Sixties he confronted tridimensionality and developed research on the forms of solid geometry: spheres, disks, pyramids, cones, columns, cubes—in polished bronze—sliced open, corroded, hollowed at their core, with the aim of breaking their perfection and uncovering the mystery contained within. The formal contrast between the sleek perfection of the geometric form and the chaotic complexity of the interior will henceforth be a constant in Pomodoro’s production.

Emblematic and very rare work by the master, the visual and technical quality employed for the piece is of exceptional level.
