Barco Mercante, an oil painting from the 1960s to 1970s, Europe, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Title: Merchant Ship
School: European School (20th Century)
Style: Marine Realism
Technique: Oil on canvas
Interesting representation of a merchant ship navigating calm waters, executed with a realistic and meticulous treatment of the ship's structural details. The composition places the vessel in the foreground, advancing toward the viewer, which enhances the sense of depth and dynamism.
The steel hull, carefully modeled through tonal gradations, reflects the light on the surface of the sea, while the red smokestack emits a plume of smoke that adds movement and veracity to the scene. The background, resolved with a slightly foggy atmosphere and diffused mountain silhouettes, frames the whole with a soft chromatic range of greens and ochers, creating a balanced contrast with the blue-green sea.
The brushwork is controlled and precise, with special attention to the technical drawing of the ship — boll eyes, deck, masts and rigging — which evidences a clear influence from European marine painting of the 20th century.
The work is presented in a dark wooden frame, with straight lines and sober design, with a slightly beveled inner edge. Its finish in dark mahogany reinforces the piece's classic character and harmonizes with the maritime color palette of the scene.
The frame comes as a gift. It may show damage during transport even if properly packed.
Notes:
Good overall condition for its age is evident.
Measurements:
50.5 x 73 cm
37.5 x 60.2 cm (without frame)
The works are shipped uninsured. If you wish to insure the transport, please contact us in advance via private message. If not requested, we will not be responsible for any damages that may occur during shipping.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge due to factors such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions, or weight of the item. PremiArt will in no case be responsible for this surcharge.
Due to border issues with Switzerland, we are obliged to inform you that shipments with more than 1 meter in length or height to that destination will not be carried out.
