Description from the seller
The Sphinxes of Egypt are one of the many wonders of this culture. They make us feel small; we look at them from below, with the magnificent pristine sky in the background. This painting reflects their grandeur, while also showing their deterioration, everything we must imagine and reconstruct. The stars that flood and communicate with the beyond, as well as the lotus flower and the resin circles that represent the sun as a all-powerful omnipresent force. One of many marvels that were underground, right there. There is still much to search for and to find, and they are “Right here.”
María Burgaz (1970) knew from a very young age that hers was art. She began her training at the Escuela de Artes Decorativas in Madrid, and earned a BA in Fine Arts from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, in the Painting specialty, in 1993. She later completed her studies at FIT in New York.
Winner of competitions such as the Wellington Foundation, Professional Football Foundation, Woman and Society, Iberdrola-UEX, UNED, Eugenio Hermoso, Gran Casino de Torrelodones…her work, in addition to being part of the collections of these institutions, also appears in the collections of municipalities such as Gibraleón, Valdemoro, Martos, Horche, Diputación de Alicante…
She has held dozens of solo and group exhibitions both in Spain and abroad, and her work is also in numerous private collections around the world.
Her industrious and enthusiastic spirit has led her to participate in all kinds of projects and to collaborate with designers, writers, and everything that allows her to express everything she carries inside. Her work always reveals the stage she lives in, her vitality and her particular sense of humor and way of understanding life, always with mastery of techniques that she combines and juxtaposes to create unique paintings of great narrative and technical richness.
Her works always include a certificate of authenticity.
