Description from the seller
This concerns two 30x30 cm photos from my new series Imagine. It is a visual story about a artwork, on a beach along the coast, of wooden posts. Groups of piles are fixedly anchored in the sand. Beauty created by order, yet at the same time a balancing act, on the edge between creation and destruction.
The artwork is part of the dynamic coastal landscape, ruled by sea, wind and tides, where it temporarily lends a piece of the coast in an ongoing struggle with the elements, only to disappear again.
This visual story is about the piles against the background of the ever-present sea. A calm sea, tranquil skies and wooden piles, waiting for the next confrontation with the elements. Where after high water, around a pile, a beautiful patterns of layers in the sand remains, or a hollow and sometimes a puddle of water.
But also about the light shining on the piles and changing with the rise and set of the sun, the clouds that pass by.
This visual story is about imagination, seeing the piles during the cycle of seasons, by moonlight, a starry sky, part of the infinite universe.
But also about seeing the piles in a storm, with an immensely powerful sea and clouds that loom threateningly above the beach. Then the sea and wind torment the anchored piles and put them to the test.
Along the coast, time is a relative notion; here sea, sand and wind patiently follow their own timetable. What seems eternal is here but a moment. The artwork remains standing until the sea takes back the stretch of coast.
Photographs capture what otherwise would be lost to memory. A visual story, as tangible evidence of existence.
The photos are offered in different formats and editions. The total number of views of the same image will never exceed 30. The photos are printed on Fujifilm Digital Professional DP II Lustre paper with a very fine surface texture, with a white border all around, and are therefore very suitable and easy to frame.
Both photos come with a certificate of authenticity and a label signed by the artist on the back of the photo.
The photos are carefully packaged in bleached white tissue paper and flat-packed between two layers of cardboard.
