Artist’s statement
With Set & Match, I wanted to subvert a universal symbol: the tennis ball. Associated with competition, strategy, and duel… it becomes here a decorative, sensual, and almost absurd element.
The work questions the notion of victory: is it the effort that counts, or the surrender that follows? The contrast between the graphic coolness of fluorescent green and the warmth of the body creates a strong visual tension.
