Emilio Notte's artwork Mille e una notte, executed in mixed technique on paper, is an original edition (1950s) measuring 57 cm by 40 cm, signed in the lower right, and sold with its frame.
Description from the seller
Vivace composition on paper attributable to Emilio Notte, depicting a scene of orientalist inspiration, verosimilità, likely drawn from the narrative cycle of “One Thousand and One Nights.” The scene features a group of figures in motion, dancers and musicians, constructed through a geometric decomposition of volumes and a swift, nervous and expressive stroke.
The formal language is typical of Notte’s research in the twentieth century: a modern figuration that blends futurist, cubist and expressionist suggestions. The figures are dynamic, almost theatrical, with a strong sense of rhythm and narration, while the choice of a brown background enhances the chiaroscuro contrasts and the touches of white that emphasize the volumes and movements.
Work of great graphic strength, probably conceived as study or sketch for a broader composition or for a thematic cycle, coherent with Notte’s interest in scene, movement and narrative dimension.
Signature:
Signed “E. Notte” at the bottom right (clearly visible in the photo).
Condition:
Good overall condition. Normal signs of time on the paper. Slight distortions and minimal marginal abrasions compatible with age. Frame in good condition with slight signs of use.
Note on attribution:
Attributed to Emilio Notte on the basis of the signature and stylistic characteristics. In the absence of an authenticity certificate or archive, the attribution should be considered as such.
Collecting considerations:
An interesting work for collectors of Italian art of the twentieth century, especially for those following the futurist and post-futurist lines. Exotic and narrative subject with a strong decorative impact, rare compared to the more well-known themes of the artist.
Shipping:
Careful packing and trackable shipping.
