Description from the seller
New series – Contemporary photomosaics
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
A multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops a body of work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first gained recognition for a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, challenging our relationship with illusion and projection.
New series – Contemporary photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaics and contemporary digital composition. Each piece is built from a multitude of visual micro-fragments generated using current graphic tools, then painstakingly selected, structured and recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture made of thousands of elements subtly interwoven. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a sought-after balance between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the making of the contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and unique work.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with flexible UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability, and a modern, contemporary appearance.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops a writer’s and musician’s body of work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
