This lot consists of a set of two studio pottery tea bowls created by different Japanese ceramic artists.

One of the tea bowls is a work by the Japanese ceramic artist Mizuno Sekkichi, and comes with the original signed wooden storage box (tomobako) and an accompanying biography sheet.

Both pieces are characterized by natural glaze variations produced during the firing process, displaying subtle tonal transitions ranging from earthy brown to deep green across their surfaces.

The expressive surface effects formed by glaze flow and kiln transformation reflect traditional Japanese ceramic aesthetics, highlighting the unique qualities inherent to handcrafted studio pottery.

Minor asymmetry or slight distortion visible in the form of the vessels is the result of the hand-shaping process and should be regarded as an intentional aspect of the artistic style rather than a defect or deformation.

Both tea bowls are glazed internally, making them suitable for practical use as tea utensils while also serving as decorative objects.

The base of the tea bowl by Mizuno Sekkichi bears the artist’s seal.

■ Dimensions (approx.)

Tea Bowl 1 (Mizuno Sekkichi)
• Diameter: approx. 13 cm
• Height: approx. 8.4 cm

Tea Bowl 2
• Diameter: approx. 12 cm
• Height: approx. 7.5 cm

*Please allow for slight measurement discrepancies.

■ Condition

Due to the handmade nature of the production process and age, variations in glaze tone, firing marks, and minor surface irregularities may be present; these are typical characteristics of studio pottery.

The wooden storage box shows minor stains and discoloration consistent with age.

No major cracks or structural damage have been observed.
Please refer to the photographs for further details regarding the condition.

The item will be carefully shipped using double-box packaging.
