Description from the seller
New series – Contemporary photomosaics
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
A multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known through a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, struck by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Contemporary photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has developed a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of visual microfragments generated with current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured and recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture made of thousands of elements subtly interwoven. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a sought-after balance between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the making of the contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.
Edition & Production
Each piece is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminium with integrated rear mounting. Printing on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability and a modern and contemporary appearance.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about two dozen Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and across Europe. He is also the exclusive photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops authorial work and music projects including three novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and five self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
