Waterman Safety Pen 42, a gold-plated fountain pen from the United States dating to the mid-20th century, in good used condition, 120 mm long and 12 mm in diameter, in working order.
Description from the seller
A0000001947
The pen is presented in good overall condition, consistent with its age and historical use. The body and the cap in golden metal retain a good level of shine, with superficial wear, micro-scratches and signs of use typical of the passage of time, visible mainly under detailed inspection or in macro photography.
Screws/marks “18KR” engraved on the body/cap are visible in the images, indicating the high-quality plating or coating used by Waterman on this model. The original engravings remain legible and well defined.
There is a pinpoint mark on the body corresponding to an old impact, strictly aesthetic in nature, that does not affect the structure, the closure mechanism, or the pen’s operation. The patina is uniform and honest, without signs of aggressive restorations.
The nib shows superficial damage that does not affect proper functioning, with tines correctly aligned and normal wear at the tip consistent with use. The nib engravings remain clearly legible.
The Safety system (retractable nib) retains its threads and mechanics, showing proper operation on visual inspection, with no noticeable play. The ball clip remains firm and correctly integrated into the cap.
Overall, it is an original, authentic piece in good condition, with markings consistent with Waterman production of the era, ideal for both collection and occasional use after a basic cleaning or servicing.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
Happy bidding!
