Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Waterman Ideal N45 fountain pen in ebonite, made in the United States, 134 mm long and 12 mm in diameter, in good used condition and in working order with a retractable gold nib and preserved original engravings.
Description from the seller
The fountain pen is presented in very good overall condition, especially noteworthy given its age and the complexity of its mechanism. The body and cap, made of ebonite with a geometric pattern, retain their natural sheen, uniform color, and defined relief, with no cracks, fissures, or visible deformations.
The original engravings remain crisp and perfectly legible, including the Waterman’s inscriptions, Ideal, patent references and model markings, which evidence wear that is limited and careful use over time.
The retractable nib mechanism is complete and correctly aligned, showing smooth operation in the extension and retraction movement, with no apparent play or visible jams.
The gold nib shows good alignment, intact tip, and a well-defined heart-shaped breathing hole. No deformations, cracks or structural damages are observed. The surface shows only micro scratches compatible with age and normal use.
The gold-plated metal elements, including the clip and the center ring, retain good aesthetic presence, with light, uniform wear consistent with the piece’s age, without serious material loss or active oxidation.
Overall, it is a very well-preserved piece, attractive to both collectors and experienced users of antique fountain pens, notable for its integrity, originality, and historical value.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box to ensure its proper preservation.
