Description from the seller
Anton Heyboer – Oerkip
Heyboers Oerkip symbolizes origin and life force. With simple lines and a direct style, he shows the essence of the animal and life, full of personal symbolism and energy.
Anton Heyboer (1924-2005)
Because of his unusual way of life, Anton Heyboer was among the most eccentric Dutch artists of the past decades. His turbulent lifestyle was reflected in five marriages. He also described himself as 'the Robin Hood of the art world,' referring to his high artistic output. Heyboer was trained as a mechanical engineer. After World War II he began drawing, though still in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed his own philosophical framework, on which his abstract artworks were built. Yet figurative elements always remain in his paintings and etchings. Heyboer also clarified the themes of his work with text, in which human relationships often play a role.
dimensions of the work with frame: 27 x 21 cm
dimensions of the work without frame: 24 x 18 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. We also make use of restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
