Mabie Todd & Co. - Swan - Fountain pen

The Mabie Todd & Co. Swan fountain pen, with a Gold Filled body and cap and N°2 nib, is presented in very good condition, especially notable given its age, over a century old.

The body and cap notably retain the gold plating, with a warm, even shine. The vertical knurling remains well defined and continuous, with no flattening or structural losses. Micro-scratches and light signs of use are observed, typical of the passage of time, visible only upon close inspection and not affecting the overall aesthetics of the piece.

The clip is straight, correctly aligned, and with good tension. The patent engraving “PATENT JAN. 19 1915” is legible, though showing slight wear consistent with the age of the instrument.

The gold N°2 nib, original to the pen, shows correct geometry and proper alignment. The point retains its shape, with no cracks or visible deformities. The engraving “MABIE TODD & CO. N.Y.” and the number N2 are clearly discernible. The ebonite feed is intact, with no breaks.

The lever-filler system is complete; the lever arm maintains proper adjustment and return. Due to the age of the set, it is recommended to replace the ink sac before prolonged use, unless otherwise indicated.

Overall, this is a very well-preserved pen for its era, with excellent aesthetic presence, high originality, and intact key components, making it especially attractive to both collectors of early fountain pens and experienced users who value quality historical instruments.
