About the Artist:
Helena Engström is an artist from Stockholm, Sweden, specializing in watercolor who has always had a talent for drawing and painting. Around the age of 16 she decided to develop her talents and started practicing portrait drawing. Her initial goal was to master realism in her portraits and once she had achieved that, Helena started developing her own unique style. It was around that time she was introduced to watercolor and realized how versatile of a medium it is. Helena especially love the mix of the realistic style of painting with letting the medium shine through with its different blooming effects and textures.
Helena's style can be described as a mix of semi-realism and minimalism with strong influences from early to mid 1900s. She loves to bring the elegance and beauty from that era back to life in this day and age through her art. She is known mostly for her delicate and finetuned watercolor portraits in limited color palettes but has started painting working in other types of mediums such as acrylic paint and oil pastels, including motifs of florals and architecture.
Helena has a master's degree in Engineering Physics from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and worked as an engineer while continuing her artistic work, until a few years ago when she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a fulltime artist. Over the past three years she's been pursuing her art professionally, mainly exhibiting in Sweden but also in other parts of Europe (see list below) while selling her art worldwide.
