Description from the seller
WOMAN AND BEAR is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. In this work, the scene unfolds as a contemporary allegory rich in symbolism. The female figure, dressed in a bright, luminous yellow, occupies the center with a frontal, firm, and serene posture. She holds a decorated bowl with both hands, a gesture that suggests offering, protection, or a silent ritual.
Behind her emerges the imposing figure of a dark blue bear, a powerful and enigmatic presence that introduces immediate narrative tension. The contrast between the delicacy of the woman and the strength of the animal creates a dialogue between vulnerability and power, between the human and the instinctive.
The vibrant red background intensifies the emotional charge of the work. Decorative plates with birds, real birds perched at the sides, and floral elements complete an almost dreamlike atmosphere, where the domestic and the wild coexist without apparent conflict.
The expressive brushwork and the bold use of color recall a Fauvist sensibility: the radiant yellow of the dress, the deep blue of the bear, and the saturated red of the background generate a dramatic and magnetic contrast. Woman and Bear is a work about duality and balance. It speaks of inner strength, of the coexistence between rational and instinctive, and of the feminine presence as the axis of a vibrant and contemporary symbolic universe.
