Artist Biography
Nambu ironware developed in the 17th century under the patronage of the lord of the Nambu domain in Morioka (present-day Iwate Prefecture). Spreading alongside the tea ceremony culture, it is characterized by its excellent heat retention and durability, as well as the solid feel of the iron and its delicate sandy texture. Iron kettles, teapots, and pots are popular.
