Klaas Gubbels, Hart op tafel, iron sculpture, edition XIII/XXX, 2000, hand-signed, 35 × 38 × 9 cm, Netherlands, in good condition.
Description from the seller
This iron work is by Klaas Gubbels (Rotterdam, 1934), a Dutch artist best known for his restrained depictions of tables, chairs and coffee pots. His oeuvre evolved over time from figurative to increasingly abstract, with the strength lying in the repetition and deepening of a limited number of themes.
Gubbels was a lecturer at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam in the 1970s (now the Willem de Kooning Academy) and works from his studio in Arnhem and in the Ardèche region of France. In addition to painting, he makes use of a variety of techniques and materials, including graphic art, photography, collage, glass, and metal.
His work shows affinities with artists such as Giorgio Morandi and Amedeo Modigliani and is also influenced by Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray and George Segal.
Dimensions: 35 x 38 x 9 cm
Provenance: Private collection, Netherlands
Viewings are, of course, possible. We also have our own in-house framer’s workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. In addition, we use restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
