Description from the seller
Rare work, infrequently produced from 1982 with Atelier Corneille stamp on the back. LAST copy available!
Guillaume Corneille kept for a long time (as several journalists and art critics testified) a reproduction of Cranach's "Eve" pinned to the wall in his studio. Without admitting it, the painter here offers a modern reinterpretation of an original Eve and the Tree of Life.
Original lithograph by the painter Guillaume Corneille (1922-2010), born in Liège to Dutch parents and founding member of the Cobra group with Karel Appel, Asger Jorn, Constant, Dotremont and later Alechinsky and Jacques Doucet
Signed and dated in the artist's own handwriting - Artist's proof E/A with Atelier Corneille stamp on the back.
Overall dimensions: 66 x 50 cm - Perfect condition - Secure shipping with UPS
Identified as an important figure in the renewal of abstraction in Northern Europe, Corneille gradually shifted from 1967 toward a rich and colorful New Figuration that aligned with the Pop Art taste of the 1960s and 1970s, and exhibited alongside Andy Warhol, Arman, César, etc.
