Description from the seller
A large original work by Salentijn, beautifully framed and in good condition. Image size: 45 x 33 cm
Kees Salentijn is training at the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, department of Free Painting. O.B. Kat is his main mentor there. During his studies Salentijn studies paintings at the Prado in Madrid and he stays for several months with a Berber family in Morocco.
In the 1980s Salentijn travels a lot to Spain. He feels connected in this period with artists from diverse currents who more or less advocate spontaneous, unconscious creation and do not pursue aesthetic depiction as their primary aim. He combines the cheerful Cobra visual language with influences from Spanish culture.
