Description from the seller
Oil painting on canvas signed Vittorio Colucci (Ischia, 1935) depicting an evocative nocturnal view of the Gulf of Naples, seen from a panoramic terrace overlooking the sea.
The composition opens on a broad marine backdrop dominated by a restless, dramatic sky, pierced by dense clouds that thin out, letting filter a moonlit glow reflected on the water. Mount Vesuvius rises in the distance, wrapped in a suspended atmosphere, while the coastline profile is lit up by a constellation of urban lights that trace the sinuous course of the seafront.
In the foreground, elegant cast-iron street lamps and a balustrade mark out the spatial perspective, guiding the eye toward the depth of the landscape. The underlying architectures, rendered with synthetic and vibrant strokes, emerge from an intense palette played on deep blues, marine greens, and warm orange and golden accents.
The brushwork, thick and tactile, gives dynamism to the painting’s surface, intensifying the changing reflections of the water and the contrast between artificial light and natural glows. The work renders a poetic and romantic image of the Neapolitan city, suspended between intimacy and monumental scale, in a harmonious balance between urban landscape and nature.
A lyrical homage to the timeless beauty of the Gulf of Naples, interpreted with luministic sensitivity and strong dramatic impact.
A contemporary gilded wooden frame as a tribute, therefore any claim regarding possible imperfections will not be accepted.
