Description from the seller
Beautiful piece by Peter Vos. Unfortunately, the work is in a mediocre state and faded, but it remains an original piece by this fine artist.
Peter Vos (1935–2010) was a Dutch draftsman, graphic artist and illustrator, best known for his virtuosic pen-and-ink drawings. He was born in Utrecht and studied at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam.
Vos gained wide recognition with his refined, often humorous and lightly estranged drawings of animals — especially birds — in which he subtly incorporated human traits. His work is characterized by extreme technical mastery, meticulous hatching and a sharp powers of observation.
In addition to free work, he created illustrations for literary editions and collaborated with, among others, writer Rudy Kousbroek. His drawings appeared in books, magazines and exhibitions and are regarded as among the highlights of Dutch drawing art of the 20th century.
