AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Old 1930s buoy-life ring used to transfer the lighthouse keepers of Finistère (Four lighthouse, Ouessant lighthouses, the Tévennec lighthouse keeper’s house, Vieille, Ar Men, the Perdrix turret). This rare buoy, with its complete rigging and the two leg straps, allowed transferring the keeper from the keeper’s boat to the lighthouse and vice versa. The boat was named “Le Quinette de Rochemont”; there were three buoys on this vessel, one has been preempted by the Marine Museum in Paris, the second is at the Thoniers Museum in Etel (Morbihan).
Piece rare and in perfect condition, covered in fabric, relatively heavy, with no flaws, a collectible item.
This type of buoy could also be used for shipwrecks, to transfer sailors from a vessel in distress.
