Description from the seller
This painting originates from Stapelen Castle in Boxtel. Since the departure of the friars, I have been the owner of this work, which has been in my possession for about eight years.
It appears that the canvas is mounted on panel, or that there is a 'panel on panel' to prevent warping. This is carried out with excellent craftsmanship and is almost invisible. Although the work seems to be signed, the signature is difficult to decipher; on the reverse side there is, however, an old note with the name of the possible painter.
The work itself measures 67 x 51 cm and is equipped with a beautiful frame (83 x 67.5 cm). The total weight amounts to 8.8 kilograms. The painting is about 150 years old and is in good condition, with the usual signs of aging. To provide a faithful image, I have added photos both under art lighting and in daylight.
