AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Ignazio Moncada, seventh son of Ugo Moncada, prince of Paternò and of Giovanna Lanza Branciforte dei principi di Trabia, stayed in Paris, where in 1960 he held his first solo show at the Devray gallery, then in Brussels, Rome and finally (from 1973) in Milan.
In the second half of the 1960s Moncada engaged more openly with the languages of a non-figurative tradition of geometrizing ancestry. His elaborations are not subject to the rigour of a vocabulary based on absolute rules, but play with the possibilities of a free geometry to determine approaches, enlargements, lateral movements. After an initial tonal configuration of nearly pop, there followed explorations that of that era bear the marks of a “psychedelic” fantasy, to develop a more pronounced dialectic between construction and rhythm, between harmony and disharmony, between geometry and movement, as differently recognized when writing about his work, between 1969 and 1972, by Cesare Vivaldi, Enrico Crispolti, Angelo Maria Ripellino.
