A professional precision measuring instrument used for navigation and chart work (cross-bearing / course determination). Originating from military or maritime use from the Cold War era.
A precision instrument that lets you on a nautical chart or map:
To plot a bearing
The three-point cross-bearing determines
An exact course angle measured or transferred
The large 360° wheel with a vernier scale makes it possible to work very precisely (to minutes of a degree).
The instrument is housed in the original wooden transport case
