GIOVERDI 60 - L'ISOLA DEL FARO

GIOVERDI (Mario Verdini, 1960) is an artist born in southern Apulia. During his university years he undertook a rigorous and methodical course of study, devoted to Byzantine art and ancient painting techniques—from encaustic to egg tempera—later arriving at oil painting. His academic training and constant experimentation lead him to a mature language in which tradition and contemporaneity dialogue harmoniously. His works are mainly articulated as landscape compositions of strong symbolic value, set in dreamlike architectural settings, suspended outside of time, between illusion and reality. His works ranging from sacred art to contemporary are present in monasteries, religious centers, private collections, and art galleries in Italy, Europe, and the United States.
