Montblanc Masterpiece 742N fountain pen with a silver body and vermeil gold plating, 12.9 cm long and 1.1 cm in diameter, dating to the mid‑20th century, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
A0000002068
The pen is presented in very good overall condition, maintaining an excellent aesthetic and structural presence for a vintage model of this period.
The body and cap, made of 925 sterling silver with gold plating (vermeil), retain a uniform, bright gold finish with very light wear consistent with use and age, visible only upon close inspection. No dents, dings, or deformations are apparent; the wavy engraving remains sharp, deep, and well defined across the entire surface.
The central ring, engraved “Montblanc,” clearly preserves its inscription, with minimal signs of surface wear, no material loss or deformations. The gold-plated clip is straight, firm, and correctly aligned, maintaining good shine and functional tension.
The white Mont Blanc emblem at the top of the cap is complete, well centered, and without cracks, a point particularly valued in this model.
The solid gold 14C (585) nib is original, features well-defined engravings, and shows proper alignment of the two swallows, with no signs of unusual wear, bites, or visible repairs. The writing point retains a good profile and finish.
The piston-filling system works correctly, with smooth rotation and full stroke, a sign of an internal mechanism in good operating condition.
Overall, this is an honest, well-kept, and well-preserved piece, ideal for both collection and occasional use, preserving the character and elegance of post-war Montblanc Masterpiece models.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box to ensure proper preservation.
