Anton Heyboer (1924-2005)
Because of his unconventional way of life, Anton Heyboer belonged to the most eccentric Dutch artists of the past decades. His turbulent lifestyle was expressed in a quintet of marriages. He also described himself as 'the Robin Hood of the art world', referring to his high output of art. Heyboer was trained as a mechanical engineer. After World War II he began drawing, albeit still in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed his own philosophical framework on the basis of which his abstract artworks arose.
