Description from the seller
ABOUT MY WORK
Painter and graphic artist. Born in Dolo (Venice), Italy, 1938. Died in The Hague, 2019.
He was active in Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany.
After earning a degree as Surveyor and Civil Engineer in Bolzano, Italy, 1957, Simeoni earned his living for the next fourteen years by working on major construction projects in West Africa and Europe, mainly new roads, refineries and oil pipelines.
In 1972 – at the age of 33 – he realized that his decision to become a full-time artist had long been awaited; he left his job and opened a studio in Brussels (1972-1979).
Brief and frequent stays in Italy and a fairly extended stay in Westphalia (Germany) characterized his artistic activity of the last fifty years (almost), with important exhibitions in prestigious Galleries, Museums and Art Fairs in Italy (Milan, Turin, Bolzano, Novara, Bergamo, Vicenza, Pordenone), Belgium (Brussels), the Netherlands (Amsterdam, The Hague, Lelystad, Rotterdam) and Germany (Frankfurt, Hamburg, Münster, Duisburg, Dortmund, Cologne, Gescher, Moers, Rheinberg, Kevelaer) etc.
During his artistic activity, he was married to Emmy Simeoni-Krajenbrink.
From 1979 to 2019 he lived in The Hague, the Netherlands.
SIMEONI has exhibited his works in numerous galleries, often prestigious, museums and public institutions in Belgium, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and France.
Among the most important:
- Isy Brachot, Brussels
- Krikhaar, Amsterdam
- Nuovo Sagittario, Milan
- Cubus Kunsthalle, Duisburg
- Steinrötter und Schnake, Münster
- Museum Am Ostwall, Dortmund
- Olympia-Museum, Cologne
- "Early Golf Show" (in various locations in the Netherlands)
He also exhibited at art fairs in Brussels, The Hague, Maastricht, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Milan, Turin, Bologna, Padua, Vicenza, Bergamo, etc.
"Maskerade", his monumental 38 m² painting, satirical and brutal, is still – after 26 years – visited constantly by a good number of tourists, art lovers and curious people who make the municipal wing of Gescher (Germany) a true pilgrimage site.
