Captured in the forest of Huskvarna, Sweden, "The Kiss" is a macro study of two moss sporophytes nestled within a landscape of lichens.

In this image, the tender contact between two sporophytes mirrors our own intimate moments. Through the lens of Radical Empathy — a state in which the observer momentarily becomes and inhabits the observed, sensing it from within — the artist reveals not only the beauty of nature’s smallest details, but also the profound continuity between human emotion and the natural world.



THE CONTEXT:  

Growing up in the Arctic, the artist developed a profound respect for the delicate balance of ecosystems where survival depends on sensitivity to the environment. This background shapes her collection "SAGOSKOGEN" (Fairy Tale Forest), which translates the mystical narratives of the Swedish woods into a visual language of wonder. Through her macro photography, Etuvgi invites viewers to shift from a human-centered worldview to one that appreciates the quiet strength and enchanting beauty of often-overlooked beings like mosses and lichens.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Inna Etuvgi is a Swedish-Chukchi artist whose work defines the concept of Cybernetic Animism—a bridge between indigenous Arctic intuition and technical precision. Raised in a remote village in Chukotka and trained in technical cybernetics, Etuvgi explores the shared "soul" of natural ecosystems and digital algorithms.

Living with Aphantasia—the inability to visualize mental images—Etuvgi uses her camera and Generative AI as a "visual prosthesis" to externalize deep emotional landscapes. Her macro photography magnifies nature’s smallest details, urging a shift from a human-centered worldview to one of interconnectedness.

Internationally recognized as an Arte Laguna Prize finalist (Venice) and a recipient of the Swedish Arts Grants Committee grant, Etuvgi’s work is held in private collections worldwide. As art critic Tabish Khan notes: “Her work transports us to other worlds—both real and imaginary, but always in harmony with nature.”
