Description from the seller
Untitled is an oil and gold leaf work on canvas. It will be delivered with a protective varnish and a certificate of authenticity.
Valentina Porcelli is an Italian artist who graduated with honors in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts of Foggia. She began her artistic career as a child, showing a marked interest in portraiture. Strongly drawn to traditional European painting and photography, she deepens her studies of oil technique. Her theatre experience has contributed to the understanding of the expressiveness of the body and its language, leaving a strong emotional charge to gesture and pose. In 2016, the artist synthesized her knowledge into a style midway between realism and illustration, achieving metaphysical nuances through monochrome backgrounds. In October of the same year she participated in the Salerno Biennale for Young People and won the first prize in painting and from there the first publication in the important national art magazine Frattura Scomposta Contemporary magazine, as well as other collaborations and exhibition experiences. From the beginning of her career she has used female subjects, initially immersed in a blue monochromatic background. Since 2018, the artist felt the need to move away from the initial background, delimiting the blue within a circle. This circle, together with the protagonists, becomes the focal point of the composition, transforming into a symbol. The paintings offer the viewer a moment of intimacy with the subjects. Most of the women in her paintings look into the eyes of the observer, creating a rapport. From the end of 2019, her painting has evolved again through the use of gold and the addition of other components in the painting composition: birds and plants. The artist currently lives and works in Parma.
