Note:
Jean-Paul Darmsteter (1924 - 2018) is a Geneva-based poet and radio journalist, of French and Belgian origin. Employed at Radio Geneva in 1945, he gained particular notoriety following the broadcast of a report he co-produced with his colleague Georges-André Zehr. Together, they demonstrated that an airplane can land on a glacier, namely the Dôme du Goûter, on the high plateau of Mont-Blanc, at nearly 4,000 meters above sea level.
After leaving the airwaves in 1965, he continued his career by taking the position of head of communications at the European Office of the World Health Organization, in Copenhagen.
Alongside his journalistic activities, he developed a poetic oeuvre marked by the publication of two collections Quadritude and Temps suspendu, published by Éditions de l’Âge d’Homme. In 2006, France awarded him the insignia of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2006.
