Description from the seller

Carlo Borri, a 1952 Neapolitan self-taught painter, approaches painting already in childhood when, by pure chance, he meets the painter Roberto Cargnani, one of the last 19th-century artists. Uprooted by the brilliance of Cargnani, he begins to paint still lifes and figures of children from life. Then the museum opens its doors to him to the knowledge of Mancini, Irolli, Morelli, Michetti as well as Sargent, not to mention Mariano Fortuny. Enamored by the painterly prowess of these artists, he begins a painting journey based on the search for color and a wholly personal technique. His paintings, mostly those from the early years, are in the homes of Neapolitan collectors and not only; then, like all old painters, for years he had art dealers who sold his canvases both in Naples and all over Italy. Some of his works can be found in certain churches in the Neapolitan area and beyond. In addition to being a self-taught painter, Borri is also a decorator, a woodcarver, and a skilled stuccator, and finally a specialist in the technique of faux marble.
