High-quality winter scene by Andreas Schelfhout. The work shows a Dutch icy landscape with several figures on the ice. Andreas Schelfhout (1787–1870) is one of the leading Romantic landscape painters of the Netherlands. The flat, often windy Dutch landscape was transformed under his hand into a lovely idyll. Although he initially painted both landscapes and seascapes, his lasting fame is mainly due to his winter scenes.
