Description from the seller
Romain Boutillier. Born in 1974, he lives in Arles and works all over. He begins by studying graphic design, attends theatre classes, then explores making short films. It is by experimenting across various spheres of the visual arts that he turns to photography, starting as an assistant to a portrait photographer in Paris.
From 2004, he responds to assignments from the press and from publishing. From 2007 to 2018, he collaborates with Éditions Hachette as a photographer for the Grand Weekend guides; these commissioned trips allow him, in parallel, to develop his practice of street photography. Since 2007, he has repeatedly exhibited, notably in 2023 at the Rencontres de la photographie d’Arles with Lost in Camargue, in 2021 at Promenades Photographiques with Rue des sentiments, in 2018 at Voies Off with Intimes, in 2012 at Promenades Photographiques with Les vêpres, and in 2010 at PARIS PHOTO off with XPLOAD.
In 2023, he publishes “Lost in Camargue” with Libel Editions. His practice across multiple visual arts has deeply nourished his eye, giving him a palette of diverse references. Every work he creates is the fruit of a singular aesthetic experience, where each subject is approached with a unique sensitivity. Influenced by the world of cinema, his photographic work often sits at the boundary between reality and fiction. This duality allows him to explore visual narratives that captivate and interrogate the viewer, inviting them to dive into his world. Through his images, he succeeds in evoking deep emotions and in arousing the imagination.
