Axis is a 60 × 120 cm original acrylic on canvas by Austrian artist Josef Gera, signed on the front, unframed, with COA, dating 2026, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
The Totemic series engages with the idea of an inner and outer axis—a line that creates order, orientation, and balance.
At the center of each painting lies a vertical form, reminiscent of a totem, a sign, or an archaic figure. This reduced form functions as a symbolic body, as a bearer of energy and meaning. It connects the Upper with the Lower and thus recalls an ancient notion: the axis between heaven and earth.
Artwork description:
Axis examines the principle of vertical order as a symbolic structure. Two color-contrasting forms—one gold and one red—form a central axis that organizes the image and at the same time evokes a figurative association.
Along this axis appear silver circles of different sizes, whose textured surface creates an additional tactile dimension. They come across as energetic markings or stations within the composition.

Artist Statement:
In my work I am interested in the moment when movement becomes form. Color, for me, is not an image but an event that unfolds in space, condenses, and then dissolves again. In the disorder of chance lies the possibility of the unexpectedly beautiful; it is precisely in this tension between control and letting go that my images arise.
