Complete original set:
- Octagonal Paulownia wood box
- Sealed vintage Pilot black ink bottle
- Exclusive black leather case
- Metallized commemorative plaque "90th Anniversary"
- Historical booklet + user manual
Note on the lacquer state:
Urushi lacquer shows a very light veil in certain areas, a consequence of 18 years in storage. Treated with care with Japanese camellia oil (traditional maintenance method), the overall appearance is excellent, but this detail is noted for transparency.
Historical context
This edition commemorates Pilot’s 90th anniversary (1918-2008) and is part of a limited series of only two models produced for this celebration. The Toki motif symbolizes renewal and preservation; the species, endangered in the 1980s, was saved by a Japanese conservation program.
The Kokkokai group, founded in 1931 by the Living National Treasure Matsuda Gonroku, represents the pinnacle of Japanese maki-e artistry. Yasunori Sakamoto sustains this tradition with pieces made entirely by hand using ancient techniques.
Of the 900 pieces produced, about 700 remained in Japan.
This piece is therefore exceptionally rare on the European market. The original catalog price was ¥126,000 (about €1,140 in 2008).
Secure shipping by Colissimo International Registered with value-based insurance. Careful packaging. Shipped from France.
Exceptional collectible for a connoisseur of Japanese maki-e or Pilot/Namiki collectors.
