Description from the seller
Max Kreijn – Gladstone Windows
In Gladstone Windows, Max Kreijn emphasizes light, rhythm and architectural forms. Windows and facade structures are depicted in a simplified manner, creating a balanced composition of lines, planes and color.
The work is less about an exact representation of a building and more about the atmosphere and the play of light that falls through the windows. With this, Kreijn shows how everyday urban elements can be transformed into a calm, almost abstract visual language.
After several years of studying architecture at the Eindhoven University of Technology, Kreyn continued his training in Monumental Art at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Subsequently he studied under, among others, R.B. Kitaj and David Hockney at the Royal College of Art in London. After his studies he first moved to the island of Ibiza and then to Assisi and Florence, where he devoted himself intensively to painting. For more than forty years the artist lived and worked in various countries, including Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Portugal, Thailand, Argentina and Australia. This international background and broad artistic formation are reflected in his work, in which architecture, atmosphere and personal experience come together.
