Samurai Kokkai Bako with its original carrying cord, a Meiji-period samurai picnic box, very beautiful lacquer (shikki) adorned with finely engraved brass fittings, consisting of four feet. The Hokkai-Bako or shell box was used by the samurai to transport or store personal objects that could be carried on a shoulder pole—the traditional bar laid on the shoulder. Height 44 cm, diameter 37 cm, very good overall condition, weight 3.5 kg. Shipped with Bpost, with tracking number and insurance.
