Description from the seller
CAFÉ is a 70x100 cm painting by the contemporary artist Ernest García. In this work, the scene captures an intimate, everyday moment within a small urban space. In the foreground, a round table supports a cup of coffee and an open newspaper, simple objects that evoke a calm pause amid the city’s rhythm.
The composition centers around a large window that connects the interior with the exterior. Through it, the bright facades of buildings and the street can be seen, depicted with warm colors and loose brushstrokes that suggest urban life on the other side of the glass. This interior-exterior relationship creates a sense of quiet observation, as if the viewer was seated in that very cafe contemplating the city.
The intense colors —reds, oranges, blues, and yellows— build a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. The contrast between the interior’s warm walls and the exterior’s illuminated architecture reinforces a sense of refuge and calm within the space. The brushwork is direct and expressive, simplifying forms without losing the essence of the objects. Each element, from the plant on the wall to the cup on the table, contributes to a visual narrative of quiet and contemplation.
CAFE is a scene of urban pause: a simple moment where time seems to stand still between the aroma of coffee, reading, and the city’s light entering through the window.
