Description from the seller
Andréas Lang (Zweibrücken, 1965 - present)
Photographer and videographer and German who resided in Paris from 1990 to 2001, his early work focused on landscape and nature, before turning to historical and mythological investigations in different areas of colonial conflicts such as Egypt, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, among others. He also has multiple film projects.
In 2009, he carried out an exhibition called Sous Les Ogives (Under the Ogives), collaborating with the Taller de Joan Barbarà. In it, he presents nine photogravures (polymer aquatint), together with writings from the third book of Notre Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo. This photogravure is the second, and together with the text, it mentions the elements missing today: the eleven original steps, the lower statues of the portals and the gallery of the kings. Just as the Parisian ground rises over time, devouring the original steps. Regarding the image, one sees a person lying down, covered with a blanket. The text speaks of the lost beauty of a historic monument due to time; the photo is a visual chronicle of current human reality in those same spaces. Both speak of what the city hides, what time transforms, and what remains on the margins of stone.
Part of the homonymous photobook. The artist signed only the first page; this photogravure is from the same book and therefore, a edition.
Edition 17/50. Printed by Tbe Barcelona (Tristan Barbarà editions).
