Description from the seller
Kinga Makowka is a Polish-born, Yorkshire-based artist and graduate of Leeds Arts University. Her work explores the emotional terrain between memory and presence, stillness and sensation.
Working primarily on raw linen and cotton canvas, she builds her paintings in multiple opaque layers. Using soft pigments, rich textures, and metallic details, her pieces seem to catch not just light, but time itself. She does not aim to capture a specific physical place, but rather a fleeting moment, a feeling.
Much of her work is rooted in personal reflection. Drawing from family rituals, the quiet of nature walks, the chaos of ADHD, and the peace sought through it all, Kinga invites the viewer into a deeply human space of emotion and connection. It is a cartography of the internal world, mapping feeling through form.
With a strong technical foundation and a growing professional presence, her work has been exhibited in galleries across London and Leeds, attracting collectors worldwide who resonate with her evocative storytelling and tactile approach to the canvas.
***
"Not Lost Not Found" captures the profound peace of existing entirely in the present moment. It is a visual exploration of that suspended space where you might not know your exact destination, but you feel completely grounded exactly where you are. Reminiscent of a misty morning walk across a vast landscape, it is a celebration of the beauty found in the in-between; a place of absolute stillness and reflection.
Technique & Texture
Built upon the natural weave of the canvas, this piece relies on a delicate balance of soft, atmospheric blending and deliberate, heavy texture. The tactile layers act as a cartography of feeling, giving physical weight to the emotions the painting evokes. The contrast between the smooth, ethereal sky and the grounded, sculptural elements below invites the viewer to step closer and get lost in the surface of the paint.
