Description from the seller
In La Custode della Visione, Bivaga presents a figure suspended between knowledge and mystery. Emerging from a field of shadow, the young woman faces the viewer with a still and lucid gaze, her presence marked by ceremonial restraint. A delicate arrangement of pearls encircles her neck, forming a luminous collar that echoes both devotion and authority.
At the center of the composition rests a crystal sphere, held lightly in her palm and indicated by the quiet gesture of her finger. The orb becomes a symbolic axis within the painting. It reflects the surrounding light while concealing its depths, suggesting both foresight and uncertainty. The figure does not command the object but appears to guard it, as if entrusted with a fragile fragment of understanding.
The palette of warm reds, ivory, and shadowed gold recalls the solemn intimacy of Renaissance portraiture. Light moves slowly across the face, the pearls, and the glass surface, allowing each element to emerge with contemplative clarity. In this suspended moment the painting proposes a subtle meditation on perception itself. Vision is not spectacle but responsibility.

About the artist:
Agatino Bivona, known artistically as Bivaga, was born in Biancavilla, Sicily, in 1972 and currently lives and works in Adrano. A pupil and close confidant of master Antonio Sciacca, Bivaga began his artistic journey at a young age and has spent over three decades refining his unmistakable visual language. His hyperrealistic portraits, rich in symbolism and emotional nuance, have been featured in major exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Celebrated in critical publications such as I Grandi Maestri (2009), and reviewed by prominent art critics like Nicola Villari and Alfredo Pasolino, Bivaga’s works are held in private collections across Europe, the United States, and Japan — carrying fragments of Sicilian elegance far beyond its borders.
