Biography
Junya Sato (born 1977, Miyagi, Japan) is a contemporary Japanese painter. He studied painting at Tama Art University in Tokyo and completed his studies in 2000.
At the center of his artistic practice is the transformation of everyday visual impressions into reduced, concentrated image compositions. Starting from inconspicuous image fragments, Sato develops a calm, precise painting that deals with perception, memory and image memory.
His works have been shown internationally in solo and group exhibitions, including in Japan and Europe. Junya Sato lives and works in Japan and is among the representatives of contemporary Japanese painting, which is characterized by a minimalist visual language and conceptual clarity.
