BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST:
He was born in Vilanova i la Geltrú in 1922. He entered his city’s School of Arts and Trades at eleven years old, where he studied under the guidance of Alexandre de Cabanyes and Damià Torrents.
In 1936 he joined Joaquín Mir’s workshop, where his training in painting began. His inclination toward these arts was fostered by the help and advice of that master of color.
After the war, he worked as a decorator. In 1952 he moved to Brazil, where he remained until 1964. He undertook study trips across the American continent, living among artists from various countries. Subsequently he resided in different cities, including Mallorca, Paris and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
His artistic spirit finds the most suitable means of expression in oil painting, a technique he practices with great personality, particularly within the genres of portrait, landscape, and seascapes. In addition to wash drawing, he also worked in watercolor. His preferred subject is the landscape painted en plein air (Camp de Tarragona, Conca de Barberà, El Garraf, especially between 1980 and 1994).
He has exhibited in Catalonia, France and Brazil, where examples of his work can be found in private collections.
He died in 2016 in Vilanova i la Geltrú.
